Legal Practice Areas

Property Planning

As we practice in a geographical area that comprises a high percentage of owners with larger holdings, a significant part of our time is spent in assisting clients with developing the appropriate ownership structure, bearing in mind also survivorship issues. This ownership structure might include a corporate or partnership or in many cases a trust. Our staff have extensive experience in assisting clients and their other professional advisors in assessing the appropriate vehicle for ownership.

Residential Property Conveyancing

We have a strong property law team able to provide you with all the protections and services you require as both a buyer and seller of residential property. We will take care of all your needs from the preparation or perusal of the agreement through to the completion of lender documents to settlement of the transaction.

Lifestyle and Rural Property Conveyancing

The bulk of property in the Katikati region is either lifestyle or rural with the rural comprising of mainly kiwifruit and avocado orchards and livestock farms. Our staff is fully equipped to administer the sale or purchase of lifestyle and rural properties. As with the residential conveyancing we are able to take care of all your legal needs from initial sale and purchase agreement through to the settlement of the transaction.

Commercial property conveyancing and related matters

We are fully equipped to deal with all aspects of your commercial real estate including its sale or purchase and all matters relating thereto including the negotiation and drafting of leases, lease renewals, rent reviews and so on.

Subdivisions

Living, as we do, in a semi rural area, subdivisions are a part of the legal practice that we are dealing with on a daily basis. Whether it be a simple boundary adjustment, or division of an orchard or farm into multiple lots or the creation of multiple residential lots from a one single lot we have the expertise and care to attend to all legal aspects of that process. This generally includes ongoing liaison with your surveyor/planner, finalisation of plans, drafting easement and other legal documents, depositing of plans and documents at Land Information New Zealand and most importantly, the issue of new titles ready for sale.

Wills, Powers of Attorney & Estate Administration

Probably the most important aspect of our practice is the planning and production of Wills. With the advent of blended families we have found accuracy in asset allocation after death has become critical. Our team will assist you in meeting that goal. In addition of course, we offer all the legal services required to complete the administration of estates.

Property Relationship Matters

Often when couples begin a relationship, they already have assets of their own. We assist clients with asset protection and Contracting Out Agreements - often referred to as a pre-nuptial agreement or a pre-nup. We can also help at the end of a relationship, with Separation and Relationship Property Agreements to divide relationship property.

Company Law

Our team is able to assist in all matters of company law including incorporation, company sale and purchase, share transfers and the like.

Trusts

As modern legislation has promoted a liberalization in the ability with which the state, third parties and indeed family members can lay claim to one’s assets the need to protect those assets has become critical. A large part of our practice is dedicated to the consideration and drafting of Trusts, the sale to Trusts of clients assets and the ongoing management of those Trusts.
